About us
Thaxted Builders Limited is a traditional building company founded in 1966 by James (Jimmy) Johnson. Jimmy built many houses in Thaxted and surrounding villages. The Vicarage in Thaxted was built by Jimmy for his family and they lived there until it was sold to the church in 1987. Jimmy then moved to Hunts Farm in Shalford where he restored the farmhouse and outbuildings.
In 1987 Thaxted Builders Limited were awarded the Braintree Heritage award for carrying out sensitive development including both refurbishment and new building at Street Farm Court, Rayne. The Company is now run by his son Robert Johnson and continues its reputation as a traditional building company with high standards. Robert has built cart lodges and new houses in Suffolk and Thaxted. He has carried out many building projects at the Spains Hall Estate. He completed the restoration of North Lodge. |
